Enabling Technologies Group

The Enabling Technologies Group is responsible for the systems administration of Solaris, Linux, Windows and other systems operated or managed by AIT, including the Solaris UNIX Cluster (cbs), PASS Gateway servers (Samba, cNFS), PHP and CGI script services, Kerberos V deployment and maintenance, and the Microsoft Windows Active Directory and Windows Update services.

In addition to systems management, this group is also responsible for development and management of a wide array of applications including the ITS Secure Server, ITS Alerts, ITS News, PASS Explorer, student organizations Web hosting management console, the Penn State Portal, and Blogs @ Penn State (MovableType development by ETS). PASS is co-managed by ETG (Linux sysadmin, PASS design, data management) and NAS (AIX sysadmin, disk allocation, GPFS software).
