Blogging
ETS provides support for end users of Movable Type, as well as offering tutorials, articles and forums to those who wish to create or modify their blog via Blogs at Penn State Community. AIT has made Movable Type accessible via WebAccess, the preexisting authentication and authorization solution, which is integrated into a wide array of Web-based services and applications at Penn State. The Movable Type publishing platform is unique in that it publishes static HTML content, rather than requiring late rendering, allowing the use of existing scalable architecture including PASS for file storage and Web servers such as www.personal.psu.edu. Movable Type blogs and professional Web sites are available for both public Web sites on www.personal.psu.edu and protected Web sites on protected.personal.psu.edu. In addition for individual use, AIT and ETS are jointly developing blogs.psu.edu to have the ability to fulfill departmental needs for either a static and/or dynamic publishing system, as seen in the AIT Web site. Availability for course instructional use on www.courses.psu.edu and student organizational use on www.clubs.psu.edu are planned for the near future.
