Oracle Calendar Service
|
As of April 7, 2011, no new accounts will be provisioned in the Oracle Collaboration Suite as official vendor support has been discontinued. A replacement production service is being deployed as University Collaboration Suite (UCS). For further information regarding ITS's end of life of Oracle Calendar, please refer to the following ITS Alert, http://alerts.its.psu.edu/alert-2016. If your department is still using Oracle Calendar special circumstances, however, will be considered on a case by case basis by contacting the ITS Accounts Office at accounts@psu.edu or 814-865-4772. Please see your ITS Consultant for more information about migrating your department to UCS. |

Native client installations are available for Windows, UNIX, Linux, Macintosh, and Solaris. Access is also available through a web browser so that users can easily access and update their calendars via the Calendaring Web server. Current versions of the software client are available for the latest operating systems via downloads.its.psu.edu.
Oracle Calendaring also supports access through Synchronized Markup Language (SyncML). SyncML synchronizes contact and calendar information between a handheld device and a computer (personal, or network-based service), such as between a mobile phone and a personal computer. Thus, SyncML makes it easy for mobile-device users to access their up-to-date calendars without having to dock to a computer or physically connect to a network.
Penn State has has an agreement with Oracle that provides Oracle Collaboration Suite Calendar licenses to Penn State academic units and individual faculty and staff for a nominal fee. Those who apply for and obtain the Oracle Calendar service will be required to authenticate with their Penn State Access Account userid and password.
